Cr Jason Hamling

Councillor Jason Hamling was officially declared Mayor of Orange on 21 December 2021, replacing Reg Kidd, who stepped down after a council career spanning more than three decades.

Mayor Hamling was born and bred in Orange. He attended Glenroi Public School and Canobolas Rural Technology High School. A former head cameraman at WIN Television for 25 years, Mr Hamling has served on Orange City Council since 2004, including two terms as deputy mayor.

Cr Hamling has a keen interest in the Orange community. He has chaired Orange City Council’s Sport and Recreation Committee since 2004 and has coached junior rugby and Orange Bush Nippers. He is a founding board member of Ronald McDonald House Central West and has served on the Domestic Violence Working Committee, the Crime Committee and the Palliative Care Community Committee.

Cr Hamling is currently a member of Audit and Risk Management Advisory Committee, NAIDOC Week Community Committee chair, Companion Animals Community Committee, Orange and Cabonne Road Safety Community Committee, Sister Cities Community Committee, Orange City Council representative on JOC (formerly CENTROC), Association of Mining Related Councils, TDO Ltd, Civic Risk Mutual and Ronald McDonald House.
