Cr Dallas Tout

Dallas Tout was born and raised in Gundagai NSW.

Mr Tout originally studied at Riverina College of Advanced Education (now Charles Sturt University) from 1980-1982.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Business in Accountancy.  His early career was spent in Canberra working for the Bureau of Statistics.  From 1990 to 2002 he was co-owner, with his brother, of the Gundagai Newsagency.  He was elected to Gundagai Shire Council in 1996 and subsequently served twelve years on Gundagai Shire Council with six of those years as Deputy Mayor.

He moved with his family to the village of Oura in the Wagga Wagga local government area in 2008 whilst working full time as a Finance Manager at Charles Sturt University.

In 2012 he was successfully elected to the City of Wagga Wagga Council and in 2014 was elected as Deputy Mayor.  Upon re-election to WWCC in 2016 he served this extended term as Deputy Mayor until December 2021.

In 2016 Mr Tout was elected as State President of the NSW Public Libraries Association.  A position he currently occupies, now serving in his third term in this role. He is currently involved in a number of local community organisations such as the Relay for Life Committee and Make A Wish Wagga Wagga & Surrounds Branch since its inception.  He was also involved in the genesis of Carevan Wagga Inc.  This organisation has grown to be successful in the provision of meals in a social context and works closely with a range of schools and other community organisations to mitigate food insecurity within the community.  Ongoing commitment to these organisations reflect his passion for community service at a grass roots level.  He is active at both a management level and also volunteering in direct service delivery.

Having served 21 years as a Councillor across two councils, Mr Tout was elected to the position of Mayor of the City of Wagga Wagga on 10 January 2022.

On a personal note, Mr Tout is married to Janine a former teacher who currently works in a multidisciplinary team providing coordinated development supports to children.  They have three children, Bethany (who passed away in 2001 at the age of 10), Eliza and Ethan. Mr Tout enjoys researching his family history, reading and spending time with his family.  He is planning on spending time exploring some of the hidden natural treasures the Riverina are has to offer.
