Delegations Overview

Regional Cities NSW ended its busy year of advocacy with two days of meetings at Macquarie Street in November.

This delegation rounded out a productive year of advocacy. Our visit was timed to ensure sufficient time for discussion of our policy and investment priorities before State Budget deliberations get underway in the new year.

Our delegation met with:

  • Minister for Transport, the Hon John Graham;

  • Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, the Hon Paul Scully;

  • Minister for Agriculture and for Regional NSW, the Hon Tara Moriarty;

  • Minister for Local Government, the Hon Ron Hoenig;

  • Minister for Housing and Homelessness and for Water, the Hon Rose Jackson;

  • Minister for Small Business and for Recovery, the Hon Janelle Saffin;

  • Treasury Secretary, Michael Coutts Trotter;

  • Member for Wagga Wagga, Dr Joe McGirr;

  • Transport for NSW, Road Maintenance and Resilience senior official; and

  • Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure senior officials.

The delegation provided an overview of Regional Cities NSW’s key policy and funding priorities to support sustainable growth of our member municipalities. They are:

  • the State Government partnering with local government to identify and ready unused land for new homes;

  • the establishment of a cap on regional airfares to ensure our airways remain fair and communities stay connected; and

  • State Government investment in water infrastructure and water safety measures to enable communities to continue to thrive.

Our work to advance our policy priorities will continue as we further develop important relationships with State Government ministers, shadow ministers and officials, and advocate on behalf of our regional cities.
