Mr Jon Gibbons

Jon is an experienced leader with 35 years of executive level service principly as Chief Executive Officer at rural and regional local governments in Western Australia and across Queensland including Bowen and Carpentaria Shire Councils, and Whitsunday and Scenic Rim Regional Councils. Jon also spent three years as Chief Executive Officer at the Administration of Norfolk Island and has undertaken customer, service, governance, and business performance projects at the City of Gold Coast as Australia’s second largest council.

Jon has a Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Applied Science, a Graduate Diploma in Local Government Management, a Graduate Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning, Diplomas of Project Management and Quality Auditing, is also a graduate of the Mt Eliza Melbourne Business School, the Macquarie Business School and has studied the circular economy and sustainability through Cambridge University. Jon has also received the Queensland Local Government Manager of the Year Award for leadership and management excellence.
