Regional Cities NSW - Regional Capitals Australia joint dinner in Canberra
Regional Cities NSW Regional members caught up with their colleagues at Regional Capitals Australia (RCA) at a joint dinner in Canberra at the end of June.
With 1300 local government representatives in the nation’s capital for the Australian Local Government Association’s 2025 National General Assembly, this was an ideal time to gather our Regional Cities and Regional Capitals leaders in one room.
Regional Cities NSW Chair Cr Steve Krieg and RCA Chair Mayor Peter Carter took the opportunity to reflect on their successes over the past 12 months and outline the goals they will be working toward over the coming year.
That work included issues of equal importance to Regional Cities NSW and Regional Capitals Australia, such as a long-term investment strategy to support regional aviation, overcoming housing supply challenges, and changes to regional migration settings to fill skills gaps and help our Regional Capitals and Regional Cities to grow and prosper.
Around the dining tables, old connections were renewed and new connections made. Most importantly, this was a chance to discuss the issues our municipalities are managing.
This mutual understanding will allow Regional Cities NSW and RCA to advocate more strongly to government about those matters that impact us all.
