Freight advocacy win for Regional Cities

The New South Wales Government has released its roadmap to ready the state to better integrate freight into transport networks into the future.

Released in June, Delivering Freight Policy Reform in NSW identified short to long-term actions.

Among the actions: investigate opportunities presented in Regional Cities NSW’s business case and confirm whether the approach taken with this initiative provides a good framework for encouraging a ‘one network’ approach to infrastructure investment prioritisation.

Our business case, the Regional Transport Pinch Point Program report, identified 93 chokepoints across the state’s freight network responsible for $80 million in lost efficiencies each year.

The report took a detailed look across New South Wales to identify areas in the freight network in need of upgrading. It found the network’s connectivity and efficiency would be improved with a $346 million investment in 10 priority projects.

We were pleased to meet with Minister for Transport John Graham earlier this year and again in August to discuss the business case in detail.
